Mouse on Mars

Well christmas is over and I finally have access to the net again. Now for some news. I honestly thought these guys had broken up a while back, since I hadnt heard anything from or about them since early on this millenium (sounds like a long time if you say it like that, huh). Well, anyway, Mouse On Mars are a duo, Andi Toma and an St. Werner, from Germany and they have produced a handfull of albums that range from ambient electronica to bubbly, eclectic disco. I reccomend having a trawl through their back catalouge, especially ‘Iaora Tahiti’. Well, The Presets have proven they have their eyes on electronic musics roots as well as the currrent scene, with Mouse on Mars having a tinker with the new single. You can find the MOM remix on the upcoming ‘My People’ release on Modular sometime in January, along with the D.I.M. and Kris Menace remixes too. So BUY BUY BUY! For now here’s taster (too bad electrorash beat me to it).

She-Ra’s Crystal Castle

Finally my eyes witnessed the 8-Bit duo Crystal Castles hailing from Canada at Pogo last night. Oh, and I have never seen a crazier, blood-thirstier 30minute set in my life. The energy in the place was immense! Props to Dardanelles who supported on the night.

Crystal Castles still have gigs lined up in the country (21/12: Empire Hotel, Brisbane and 22/12: Click Click, Melbourne) so if you live close-by go check them out! Please?

If this doesn’t get you excited, nothing will. At this current moment it is the 10th of December, T minus 4 days til Daft Punk (the Friday show here in sunny Melbourne). This is what it all comes down to. My entire life has just been a large scale preparation for this day. Ok, maybe Im a little bit fanatical, but who cares. This sort of thing only happens once in a lifetime. Oh, and I just scored free tickets to ‘Daft Punk is screening at our house’, which should be playing around the country. Its basically all DP’s video content (clips, electroma, Interstellar 5555, etc) over two nights. Thats something to do I guess. So theres not much I can offer you music wise that you probably wont have. They’re not the most productive robots in the world. But just in case, heres a few little tidbits. The DJ Falcon & Thomas Bangalter track is the source of those vocals in the encore above. Theres a Daft Punk remix and a little Bangalter track from a while back. Pops up in the Digitalism essential mix. Enjoy, I know I will.

Chocolicious

OK, so I get mail of several remixes from this Miscellaneous Chocolate character (AKA Bryce Scheurle of Mill Creek, Washington). Get this… his 16; simply put, the boy has talent. He has been remixing for the past year and has been all over the internet (Trash Menagerie, Discobelle, Palms Out Sounds, etc. etc..)

Hmmm, but I know I had seen his material floating around somewhere and then I remembered the MSTRKRFT boards that I have a habbit of reading every so often. Then it clicked. Anyway, leave some praise at Bryce’s myspace, I’m sure he will appreciate it!

So you would think he only does remixes ey? Well well well…. now onto his own piece, “Kaiser”.

1928

1928 is the moniker of Melbourne man Adam Burnell. I had seen the name about, with his ‘Umbrella’ remix a while back, but here is some new material. This track pleases my ears. It’s a remix of Adelaide band Femme Fatales (not to be confused with Femme Fatale that JFK from MSTRKRFT is in) and their tune ‘My Intention’. This remix gives it a buzzing, deep electro twist. Not bad. Check out Adam’s Myspace for a few of his live mix tapes.
