Brought together by the magic of chaos

Well, I haven’t posted shit in long while and I should really spread the butter of love all over your blog reading eyes.
So…
TERRORDACTYL
There isn’t really much to say about these guys considering how new they are. They haven’t had a gig, or even properly recorded anything… but when you have the opportunity to plug a friends band, why the fuck not?

Keep an eye out for their first gig at 3rd class soon.

Bag Raided

I really thought I was dreaming late last night. It was early Thursday morning, 3am or so and I hoped that something funky was going to appear on Beatport. Man, was I in shock. After my much hyped post the other day, I finally got my mitts on the other Raider’s ‘Fun Punch’ remixes! I must admit, I’ve had the Whitenoise remix for a while but I’m pretty sure they re-touched it and now it just sounds more electrifying - pure bliss. But my pick of the bunch would go to the ZZZ remix. When I first heard this bad boy at a club, I thought Beethoven was in the house. Oh and then my body was acting up - my spine shivered and my left leg twitched uncontrollably a fair bit too. I’m such a sucker for that raw piano sound. Props must also go to the Bag Raider’s remix aswell, it’s dope. Grab all the remixes here - you won’t regret it!

La la la Mode

I love getting mail. Well, they don’t call me ‘Postman Patch’ for nothing, hey? Anyway, the latest email I have recently received is from Melbournian electro-rockers La Mode. With influences from Riot in Belgium to Daft Punk, who could go wrong? ‘Salami’ is a sorcher, but what really impresses me is their remixes…

A love affair with Hercules & Love Affair

Looking for something a bit different? Those of you who seem to never let anything slip past their ears may already have latched onto these guys, but this is just a recent discovery for me. Hercules and Love Affair. Im immediately drawn to them due to the guest vocals of Antony of Antony and the Johnsons on the single ‘Blind’. I really cant flick through my itunes without settling back onto it. His warbling voice warms my eardrums. Basically Hercules and Love Affair are a new act to be signed to DFA, with their debut album dropping very soon. It seems DFA have really been my saviour from the current bombardment of hypercolour infused, compression laden, overdriven electro producers/remixes that fly everywhere these days. Don’t get me wrong, I like the sound, but its just when the place gets full of tail riders that it starts to annoy me. Anyway, this post is about these guys. Enjoy. Oh, and check out the other new DFA band Bot’Ox. Nice.

Jackin’

Acid Jacks return with a remix of Twinpitch’s successful song ‘Nonstop’ (reached 7th place in the German Club Charts; not bad ey ey?). For all you cats out there that want the original and other remixes, buy this release at Beatport pronto.
I’ve also put up an extended bass remix of the Jack’s ‘Disco Shoes’ tune, just for any adventurers out there that like to get their funk-bass-groove-on.

Now let’s progress with news from the Knightlife camp. His first release ‘I’ is now available at Beatport so get on it! ‘Ambopop’ and ‘All Systems’ included in that bad boy. In terms of remixes, well, this news makes me quite moist. . . Bag Raider’s ‘Nil by Mouth’ Knightlife (stream it at his myspace or suss discobelle) remix featured on a Raider’s remix 12″ out on Bang Gang 12″s this week with other remixes from ZZZ and Whitenoise - get it here. It just doesn’t stop there, oh god no. Riot in Belgium has teamed up with Knightlife to remix Alex Gopher’s ‘Aurora’ with that 12″ being out soon.

Still staying close to home with the news here, I’m still twiddling my little thumbs with anticipation of Boys Noize’s remix of ‘Lights & Music’ by Cut Copy. I’m really loosing my patience here people.

Oh PS:

Defender

You may or may not have heard of the 2005 “supergroup” (well I would like to think) Defender, consisting of Alan Braxe, Fred Falke and Savage. They only brought out one selftitled release on Braxe’s French house label Vulture. Side A, ‘Defender’, is a powerful track and took me on a rapid ride - very Daft Punkish I might add. Definately worth a listen.

M83

Good news from the cosmos. For those of you who love and shoegaze electronica of M83, and never thought they would play back on Australian shores, your in luck. The now one man group of Anthony Gonzalez (after Nicolas Fromageau’s departure a few years back) will be supporting the Midnight Juggernauts on their upcoming tour in March along with Bagraiders, Lost Valentino’s DJ’s and Damn Arms DJ’s. Personally I find it odd that M83 are the support though. I mean they have been around for years, produced 4 albums, about to release a new one in April this year and have been quite an influential electronica act in many scenes. Should be having their own show. If you like My Bloody Valentine, theres a good chance you will love M83’s back catalogue. Buy tickets now for the show and listen to my favourite track, and a nice Depeche Mode remix below.

SymbolOne

SymbolOne is another really promising act to come out of Europe of late. If you like that 80’s/early 90’s tinged electro sound then this will please your ears. Actually, Love Juice was one of the tracks in the ‘almost was but never happened’ Justice mix below. I’m seriously willing to bet it will only be a few months before we start hearing this shit out in clubs in Melbourne. Especially the track ‘Mean Rocket” (myspace).
