Rise of the Hawke!

The new kid on the Modular block is Ladyhawke aka Pip Brown and she is already creating a flutter around the world. Originating from New Zealand, she has traveled through Sydney and Melbourne and now resides in London where she continues to write dreamy synth-pop ballads drawing on influences such as Stevie Nicks and Van Halen (what a combo!). Ladyhawke already has a cult following which will soon explode into bigger things once her first single drops.

‘Back of the Van’ is the first official release from the half-bird half-lady songstress and will be out soon on Modular bundled with a massive collection of equally catchy remixes. Along with the Van She Tech remix, which we posted a couple of weeks back, the single also includes stellar remixes from the likes of Mock & Toof and Fred Falke!! Falke brings an added funk to the song, adding a huge slap bassline underneath her subtle vocal melodies. Pip also lends her sexy vocals to a track on Pnau’s latest album which could easily be mistaken for something straight out of the fluro era!

Keep an ear out for her next single ‘Paris is Burning’ which is set for release in June!

Nice work on the Falke remix, we’ll be dropping this into one of our mixes shortly.

Also, check out the same track remixed by Van She Tech. Better remix overall, IMHO.
