With the upcoming Parklife festival almost upon us (Australia Only feat. headliners 2ManyDJ’s and Soulwax plus many more!) and everyone absolutely aching for a perfect quality of the much hyped MGMT- Kids (Soulwax Remix) to be released (or pop up somewhere in blog land…) the majoirty of the music world is literally creaming their pants once again for the 2 [...]
I thought I’d share with you a couple of jams from someones who’s always continually impressed me with each new release…Mr. Todd (Tango) Terje. Infusing latin-jazz-bossa-disco beats together has always come easy for this Norwegian born producer. You can find a stack load of edit’s under his ‘Tangoterje’ moniker including re-works of Michael ‘Jacko’ Jackson, [...]
Wow. Londoner, and up and comer guarantee, Arch-M. I want more. These tracks are amazing for a ‘bedroom producer’.
MP3: Arch M – Cat Grave
Another UK band, Tired Irie, seem to be getting alot of NME buzz recently, which doesnt necessarily amount to buzz down here in Australia, nor indicate talent, but I can definitely see [...]
Tim Sweeney…resident DJ for DFA Records and host of the popular Beats In Space radio show. It’s just been made public that Sweeney will be playing several dates down the east coast of Australia in October!!
For those of you unfamiliar with Tim’s work, he’s been affiliated with DFA for some time now, even lending his [...]
I come bearing great news…
He brought you arguably the best house track “Intro” (with Falke of course).
His first release on Roulé (French house label set up by Thomas Bangalter, one half of Daft Punk and managed by Gildas Loaëc) was “Vertigo” – a very tight tight tightttt french-house release.
“Music Sounds Better With You” (also on [...]
After just stepping off the stage with These New Puritans, Bachelor Of Arts have just unleashed their debut album on our asses and play a handfull of shows all around Australia, probably in your home town, so theres no excuse to miss them. These guys are extremely tight live and wont disappoint. The albums called [...]
So after joining this ‘meditation support group’ in the hills of country victoria, a false god introduced me to this 3 piece band from Brooklyn named, These Are Powers. Another band to watch out for in the midst of a growing number of new age/psychedelic styled music. If your a fan of Telepathe or [...]
Close your eyes and shut off everything that engulfs your mind and surrounds your inner-body. Make sure you are laying down on something comfortable, something that makes you feel “in the zone”. Take a deep breath followed by some more if you feel like you need it… Oh wait, stop stop stop… I forgot to [...]
Right, I find myself waiting here at the computer with 20 minutes to go til I can buy MGMT tickets online, so I thought Id share with you the songs that have really been rotating with me lately. First up is an absolutely gorgeous, euphoric dream pop track from an equally as fantastic album. They [...]
zomg. Finally The self titled new album is coming out on the 16th of August. Although i sound like a teen reviewer for dolly magazine i have been a massive fan of Mercy Arms for awhile, although Kirin may steal my girlfriend with his ‘yeah i can wear a wedding dress but girls still want to sex me’ look. The album [...]
Very talented Sydney Duo ‘Like Woah’ return to the scene with a brand new release on the Bang Gang 12 Inches label entitled ‘Raw/War’. The EP is available August 20th and promises more club mayhem with tracks ‘Discombobulator’ & ‘Girls Sing’. The first single from the EP is ‘O.S.O.F’ and showcases both the progression and [...]
I’ve never really been able to go past a Joakim edit or remix before, he always seems to keep producing these epic pieces of music that captivate you over and over again, from his creeping rendition of Cut Copy’s ‘Hearts On Fire’ to the italo disco remix of ‘A Mountain for President’.
Here are two more [...]
Cut Copy – Live at Studio B: Out There on the Ice
Firstly, HUGE PROPS must go to Pitchfork.tv. Top top toooop notch!
Cut Copy’s May set at Brooklyn’s Studio B had one of the most amped-up crowds of any we’ve shot. The club was denied a cabaret license a month later and shut down, meaning– Footloose-style– [...]
Well Im listening to the new Friendly Fires album, and Im really in two minds about it. As soon as I think Im starting to like it, Ed Macfarlane’s voice bursts into the chorus and it sounds like some emo/hardcore band rocking out with synths. He hits some quite emotional tones throughout the album.
Jurys still [...]
