2 Many reasons to cream your pants!

With the upcoming Parklife festival almost upon us (Australia Only feat. headliners 2ManyDJ’s and Soulwax plus many more!) and everyone absolutely aching for a perfect quality of the much hyped MGMT- Kids (Soulwax Remix) to be released (or pop up somewhere in blog land…) the majoirty of the music world is literally creaming their pants once again for the 2 Many DJ’s. But really, did anyone ever stop creaming them?

So to tide everyone over until they get to see these legendary brothers in action (or at least dream about it) heres a mix that has been floating around on the internet since last week (much love to ‘Bobby Digs It All’ for his post on lowbee) from their latest set (24-08-2008) recorded live at Cream Fields Festival in the UK on BBC Radio 1. With Park Life just around the corner, all i can say is that if their set at Park Life is anything like their one at Cream Fields last week, i will not be the only one Creaming my pants….

Time to Tango!

I thought I’d share with you a couple of jams from someones who’s always continually impressed me with each new release…Mr. Todd (Tango) Terje. Infusing latin-jazz-bossa-disco beats together has always come easy for this Norwegian born producer. You can find a stack load of edit’s under his ‘Tangoterje‘ moniker including re-works of Michael ‘Jacko’ Jackson, Chic, The Bee Gee’s, Kraftwerk’s ‘Home Computer’ and even The Knight Rider Theme.

Below is an older edit under his ‘Tango’ alias of Paul Simon’s ‘Diamonds on the Soles of her Shoes’, simply titled ‘Diamond Dub’. It’s a 7 minute exploration through the African savanna accompanied by loads of percussion and plenty of echo’d vocal samples from the original track with a killer bass line.
The Simon Baker edit of ‘Plastik’ was something that Todd started for fun and then realised it’s potential and released it on the Playhouse label, complete with rolling bassline and simple cosmic treatments.

One of his most recent productions is a remix under his usual guise of the terrific Jose Gonzales track ‘Killing for Love’. The original is so powerful and strong it’s hard to imagine it being improved upon but somehow Terje has done so. He created some catchy guitar samples and threw them under an amazing bass riff that screams to me Fleetwood Mac ‘Tusk’ (does anyone else hear that too?).

The last track is something I stumbled across the other day, it’s a progressive chaotic beast with a great drum beat and synth work all fighting for somebodies attention. Although an odd intro, you must wait at least 40 seconds for the fury to begin….

Wow. Londoner, and up and comer guarantee, Arch-M. I want more. These tracks are amazing for a ‘bedroom producer’.

Another UK band, Tired Irie, seem to be getting alot of NME buzz recently, which doesnt necessarily amount to buzz down here in Australia, nor indicate talent, but I can definitely see these guys taking off. They sound quite foals-esque with a heavier synth but are pretty catchy.

MP3: Tired Irie - Skipteque

Some old gold here too. Those French robot gods didnt change too much when they sampled this number, but it just sounds so fresh.

VER-TI-GO

I come bearing great news…

He brought you arguably the best house track “Intro” (with Falke of course).

His first release on Roulé (French house label set up by Thomas Bangalter, one half of Daft Punk and managed by Gildas Loaëc) was “Vertigo” - a very tight tight tightttt french-house release.

“Music Sounds Better With You” (also on Roulé) - dare I say more???
(he was in ‘Stardust’, the one time project with Thomas and vocalist Benjamin Diamond that did this amazing one-time hit)

His the bravest man alive. Like, far out.. who would take on DJ Assault? Not me that’s for sure…

You would’ve guessed that the man is of course ALAN BRAXE. YES BRAXEY IS COMING!!! Lock the kids up and venture out to Basement 257 (Q-Bar) on October 24th to see the man do his magic. With great support acts to lend a hand on the night: Miami Horror, Harris Robotis, Ooh-Ee and the Kablam! boys.

Sydney gig details announced soon. Tickets @ $25 with only 500 available.. If you are stuck for a ticket just email the blog, we will do the rest.
