This one just snuck right under my nose a few years back. You may remember Out Hud, the NY band Tyler, Nic and Justin from !!! used to play in around the early 2000’s. Well, Id only heard the one track, ‘Its For You’, from Cut Copy’s T5 Soul Sessions mix at around the 8 and a half minute mark. I got my hands on their second album (thankyou to CSW) and its actually really great. I may be preaching to the converted here, but this is still a new little gem for me.
MP3: Out Hud - The Song So Good They Named it Thrice
Another classic No Wave track from 1980 by guitarist Glenn Branca. Dug up on one of the New York Noise Compilations. Worth it.
MP3: Glenn Branca - Lesson #1 For Electric Guitar
Now one of my favorite tracks from The Cocteau Twins. Highly influential Dream Pop band from the when the scene was thriving in the mid to late 80’s. This is only a taster but, as with the other band I recommended recently Slowdive, this is a band worth delving into for a beautiful and lush back catalogue.
