It’s been rather quiet around the Waves camp recently. Sorry about that guys.
First up is a new track that Ive only just been allowed to post. Oh Mercy are a band sitting comfortably amongst the new up-and-coming crop of Melbourne artists starting to make a name for themselves including The Harpoons, Little Red, Seagull, Touch Typist, Hot Little Hands etc. They make instantly catchy indie-pop tunes that have this knack of embedding themselves constantly in your current playlist. If your in either Sydney or Melbourne, you’ll have plenty of chances to go catch these guys live…so go do it.
Oh Mercy – Lay Everything On Me
Ive always loved shitty DIY fuzz-punk, and thats why Ive really been digging PVC Street Gang. Dont know too much about them but I do know I want to hear more.
The British Post-Punk movement produced so many classic albums: Unknown Pleasures (Joy Division), Script of the Bridge (The Chameleons) [Highly Reccomended], Sleep No More (The Comsat Angels), The Queen Is Dead (The Smiths), Entertainment! (Gang Of Four). 154 by Wire is one of my personal favorites, which I was introduced to by my Dad who picked the vinyl out of a pile stating that it was his favorite ever album. Wire were a band at the forefront of their respective genre’s (punk, post-punk, new wave) at the release of each album. In fact, the last track for My Bloody Valentine to record before they broke up was a cover of their track ‘Map Ref. 41° N 93° W’ off 154.
A little closer to home now with some punky indie-dance straight out of Sydney from Sejanus. ‘I Could Be Fire’ has anthem written all over it, especially now that the boy has been given the Lost Valentinos/Bag Raiders/Miami Horror seal of approval.

JD, loved Wire – Blessed State…what are great song. Thank You.
You should really check out the first album by the Chameleons then, you’ll definitely get into that.
Love the Song by PVC Street Gang, great find.
