All I can say is I can’t wait for a CFCF LP. Everything he’s touched turns to disco gold. This track slipped me by recently, but has been on high rotation of late.
MP3: Femme – Bathtub Clash (CFCF remix)
No need to explain this next track. Its basically handy if you really want to mix some Daft Punk in, but your a bit sick of the same old shit and really want to blow the club open, and smash in some nostalgia of the best live show in recent history.
MP3: Daft Punk – Harder Better Faster Stronger 2008 (Alive Club Mix)
Ok, now Ive got a bit of a survey for all you readers out there. So were considering starting up a few nights down here in Melbourne and we’d be keen for some input on what YOU would like to hear, what bands/DJ’s etc. Weve got pretty broad tastes here at Waves and Id be just as keen putting on a bunch of shitgaze/no-fi scuzz rock bands as I would be with some smooth disco DJ’s. But we need a happy medium, so any suggestions would be most welcomed.
Also, Id be interested to hear what you’d like to see more of on the actual blog, ie. obscure dance-funk cuts, some latest french D-floor destroyer remixes, quality post-punk sounds or anything else. We’ll have a listen to your suggestions and see what we can muster up.

please do start up a new night in melbourne. ever since 3rd class (not that was even _that_ smooth-disco-ey) left town, but for the occassional class act from ausland or franceland or italyland, clubs have been a flat..
“obscure dance-funk cuts, (anything newdisco), lots of french D-floor destroyers, quality post-punk sounds” – all this is exactly what melbourne needs.
if you do get anything started up i’d love to dj
failing that, start up a disco night.

yes to obscure dance-funk cuts. mixing shit up with no-fi or no-wave stuff would be rad as.
i think you should play basically what this radio show plays:

more stuff like the stabs! you aussies aren’t sharing…
Melbourne’s been seriously lacking for a while now for a night that’s consistently good. An emphatic YES to all things disco, its exactly what we need here in M-Town. A couple of young lads in the side room at the Cutters/Knightlife gig a couple of weeks back (don’t even know who they were) played the sweetest set of new-disco i’ve heard in ages. The whole room was just bouncing, all smiles and booty shaking so funky, you could carve it. Nice to see smiles on peoples faces while they were dancing, a good move away from intense electro sounds, which dominate the scene here.
In terms of what you guys are posting on the blog, I wouldn’t change a thing. I know what I like and where to find it, so its refreshing to read and hear what other people, equally as passionate about good sounds are digging. Keep up the good work chaps.
Hey Waves!
Sad to see more people didnt give you guys some opinions, but I will hand off my 2 cents. This blog really started it all for me and has done wonders to bring new and refreshing music to my ears. I think generally you guys have kept a good ratio of things that are unknown and hot, while also taking risks with sharing things that may more obscure even in the underground scene. That ratio may have been slipping towards the latter recently, but I dont think that is the worst thing. Ultimately, you guys should decide what you like blogging about. My first impression is that everything on this site has its roots in Disco and it would be sad to see you guys lose that. It’s funny too that you guys are not sure what to blog about because the state of House/Electro House/Disco House is a little in limbo as the Bangin stuff is more and more washed up, a lot of the people from 07 have been relatively silent, and the entire scene is waiting for a new direction. Stop when I have bored you haha. Either way just wanted to say I really love the site and Waves was the first for me so please dont change. Ill see you guys on HML, whatever that means…
you guys should visit Perth more often

ponce: what’s your username on HML?
and in terms of what we are posting . . . we arn’t going to change. of course our views/tastes change time to time. if it was my choice i would be posting 60s/70s prog rock (which in fact i might start doing) with house/disco. i did go through a ‘bangers’ phaze but now i just love downtempo/funk/disco/house with french touch. and its great i have jd et. al. to fill in the gaps with other stuff.
we will have waves parties in melbourne very soon. just need a good venue. ideas?
