A fresh beginning – that’s the way Bachelor of Arts are approaching 2010 and the release of their new EP, Wither With Her.
After their 2009 US tour, the band reflected on collective experience. It was a year split between three continents and in which time, a lot of things changed. The result of 10 months of writing is a psychedelic-no-wave return to the EP format. There’s a decidedly fuller sounding set of songs than their 2008 Infinite Jest LP. Synth mangled guitars, contact mic’ed bookshelves, circuit bent distortion pedals and three part harmonies all sit somewhere in a world of Afro-beat and GZA influenced rhythmic bursts. Available on Jan 2nd at the Workers Club as a limited edition CD and later in 2010 on 12″ vinyl, this will be one of the last chances to catch Bachelor of Arts for several months as the band once again embark on international adventures.
