WAVES AT NIGHT

PINK SKULL

Been meaning to post this for a while but have been very very slack (sorry RVNG). Pink Skull’s album “Endless Bummer” is one of my favourite releases for the year that was 2009. Julian Grefe is the mastermind behind Pink Skull and teamed up with Justin Geller (611 Records alum and co-conspirator) in 2004. It wasn’t until 2006 Pink Skull expanded into a live band, with the addition of players Jeremy Gewertz (drums), Mike Hammel (bass) and Sam Murphy (guitar).

Brought out on the great RVNG label, “Endless Bummer” is the second album by the band and was engineered by Quentin Stolzfus (Mazarin), recorded live to 8 tracks on 1″ tape at Alex Ounsworth’s (of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah) studio outside of Philadelphia.

Tracklisting:

A1 Peter Cushing
A2 Chicken Dream Inside Egg
A3 Circling Bwi
A4 Ritualistic Bug Use
A5 Wheet
B1 Endless Bummer
B2 Oh, Monorail
B3 Fast Forward To Bolivia, 2000 Years Later, Our Hero Finds Himself…
B4 The Inconsiderate Neighbor, As Played By Justin McNulty (And Don’t Even Get Me Started On Those Shoes)
B5 Fired, So Fired

The LP comes with a download card for the following bonus tracks:

01. Several French Revolutionaries Standing on the Back of My Neck
02. Gonzo’s Cointreau
03. When Falling Straight Through A Goat

Endless Bummer is available on vinyl and mp3 formats. Each LP comes with a digital download of the full album (+ three bonus tracks) and Beardo Tyrannicus, a collection of original and found works by Pink Skull, laid out by Will Work For Good across two 18” x 24” newsprint posters. “Endless Bummer” can be purchased from the RVNG Shop here.

The packaging is real special with this release too: for the living/breathing packaging of Endless Bummer, Pink Skull and Rvng prepared a list of 1000 different “bummers” informed by our symptomatic culture (ranging from “ADULT DIAPERS” to “ZOMBIE INVASION”) and letter pressed 900 of these across a variation of three flo-colored jackets printed with vegetable-based inks at Stumptown Printers, as shown below:

MP3: Pink Skull – Chicken Dream Inside Egg
MP3: Pink Skull – Oh, Monorail
