Some gems for you here. All very highly recommended.
You probably would have heard this one before out on some big speakers. Skatt Bros cult classic ‘Walk The Night’ was, and still is, a dance floor bomb.
MP3: Skatt Bros – Walk The Night (12” Single)
Finally got around to picking up the latest RVNG of the NRDS release, this time by Sweden’s Jackpot. I just have to like these guys even if it was just based on their influences: “the movies of Kenneth Anger, the music of Suicide, Velvet Underground and Bruce Haack, the words of William S Burroughs.” Plus a heavy dose of disco.
MP3: Jackpot – Brief Encounter
Now, this one I need some help with out there. This track comes off an album by UK group Fashion called ‘Fabrique’ (or the re-release titled ‘The Height of Fashion’. I cant find a copy of it anywhere; can anyone point me in the direction of a copy? Classic post punk/new wave. though this track comes off as dark, deep throbbing bass, midnight disco punk.

Yes!
Jackpot!
Mutant Dance Move!
I have it on vinyl
nice! Whats on the B-side? Do you happen to have the album?
Walk the night = Thriller Deep Disco.
The song by Jackpot highly remind me of Madleen Kanes Rough Diamond. Or is it a pure sample? http://www.lastfm.se/music/Madleen+Kane/_/Rough+Diamond (sorry, didn’t make the effort to search for another link)
Update: it surely is a sample.
fashion 12″” b-side
FASHION track produced by ZEUS B HELD.
zzeus is german producer with kraut/space rock backgrond.
zeus is complete studio whiz and does MUTANT VERSIONS for most good fashion 12″S of early 80s
this one is b-side of MOVE ON
nice digging!
‘Walk the night’ is amazing. I can’t enuff of it. The dun-dun-dun-part must be one of the funniest parts ever, totally lights up the song. I have to quote what someone said about it on Youtube:
“These lyrics are about a menacing as an after-dinner mint. Perhaps in a cartoon or some other animation product geared toward young people who appreciate the comicbook violence of mass media pop culture. Other than that its an alright song about a gay rape fantasy.”
LOL.
Echoing Roman’s comments, Zeus B. Held’s mixes of Fashion were among the best of the decade. I’ve got the 12″ as part of the Love Shadow/Move On double pack and all four tracks are killers.
Zeus B. Held also produced Gina X’s classic No GDM and, seems bizarre now, some great remixes of Killing Joke’ Love Like Blood and The Fall’s Hit The North, all worth checking out.
Fantastic site, by the way!
