EASY GIRL

I’m really late on this post as this was meant to be a buildup post to the Easter themed party ‘Sound of Danger’ held at the Carlton (24/04/2011), with the primary focus of ‘resurrecting’ the italo. These Sunday night events, titled ‘Danger‘, are hosted by George Hysteric (of System fame) and Roman Wafers (Bamboo Musik). I was kindly given three edits from the duo to support/promo the night. Even though I have truly missed the boat, they are still, however, quite relevant and shouldn’t go unheard:

MP3: Atmosphera – Easy Girl (R.W. Edit)
MP3: Emmak – Black Jack (Hysteric Edit)
MP3: Steve Davil – Shake Me Up (Hysteric Edit)

The next Danger is in celebration of our humble Queen’s coming of age held of course at the Carlton, June 12th. With Hysteric + R.W., featuring special guest Michael Kucyk (the magnificent Noise in My Head)

It’s also nearly time for the next installment of the Bamboo Musik bi-monthly dance party held in the basement of the Mercat. This one will have the spotlight on the female species. Ladies, it is indeed your time to shine at your ‘Ladies Night‘ and by golly you should enjoy the privilege of having no cover charge – all night long. So special. Chaps, you will still have a good time, guaranteed. For more info: bamboomusik[at]gmail[dot]com

MP3: Mauro – Lady Africa + Bossanova Girl
MP3: Fancy – Lady of Ice
MP3: Klaus Weiss – Song for a Lady

BONUS: Just because I’m a huge Tull fan:

MP3: Jethro Tull – Ladies

And finally, the conclusion. Sydney will be hosting Vivid LIVE at the Sydney Opera House (May 27 – June 13). Here’s the blurb:

Vivid LIVE at Sydney Opera House is part of VIVID SYDNEY (May 27 – June 13), the city’s annual festival of light, music and ideas. Vivid Sydney celebrates the city as a leader in the field of the creative and cultural industries both nationally and throughout the region.

Each year, Vivid LIVE at Sydney Opera House asks a different artist or individual to curate a program of events in and around the world’s most iconic venue.

Following Brian Eno’s debut festival in 2009, Lou Reed and Laurie Anderson brought their unforgettable downtown New York vibe to Sydney in 2010. This year local music industry legend Stephen ‘Pav’ Pavlovic, founder of the hugely successful Sydney-based record label, touring company and international brand Modular, brings fresh Australian eyes to this growing international festival.

So at this years Vivid there is a huge array of great artists and performers such as: The Cure, OFWGKTA, Azari & III, 2ManyDJs.. just to name a few. Full list right here.

One of the studio parties that deeply interests me is one involving Sydney’s Mad Racket crew, the Bamboo Musik team (R.W. + Dick Cheese [P.A.M.'s Misha]) and most importantly Gavin Russom. Gavin has been commissioned by Vivid LIVE to create something amazing with his The Crystal Ark project: 90 minutes worth of concert, involving a wide array of musicians, dancers, video + projection dudes and artists from NYC, DFA and LCD Soundsystem. Tickets and info here. Not to be missed!

With those who have a radio should tune into Triple J this Saturday (aka tonight) to catch the broadcast from midnight on the JJJ Mixup program.

The Atmosphera remix is out of control. Are they the Israeli or Brazilian band? Where did they come from?!
