SonusCast is the journey through the shotgun scattered sonic-mental network of a selected guest in each release, in the form of a simple mix. Influences, anthems, beat-gems and anything that fits.
To start off the first aural journey in the SonusCast saga is German graphic designer/artist/DJ/producer Valentino. He is an art student in his hometown of Munich where he is fortunate to be in the class of the highly acclaimed Olaf Nicolai. Valentino is also part of the tight-knit family of Munich based fashion label “A Kind of Guise“. He is a former employee of the Gomma Records, a Munich label led by Jonas Imbery (Telonius) and Mathias Modica (Munk), although still involved carrying out various graphic illustration duties.
With his partner in crime, Marvin Schuhmann, the two were responsible for the now defunct but astounding “Tell Your Taxidriver” weekly club-night at Munich club Ersteliga, both DJing (mixes can be found here or here) and hosting guests such as Tiago, The Glimmers, Pat Mahoney, Prince Language, Hunee, Roy Dank, Juan MacLean, Eamon Harkin, Erol Alkan, Tim Sweeney, … and the list goes on. Alas, the two now contain a monthly residency at Charlie (where this SonusCast mix was constructed).
On the side, Valentino and Marvin run a blog, appropriately titled Marvin & Valentino, and are now venturing into music production – the first release is in the works with Munich based producer Bartellow and soon to be released early next year on a well-known Munich label. In addition, Valentino is also preparing a bootleg EP with Marvin and a solo project on Gomma.
SONUSCAST ♒001 ¦ TRACK-BY-TRACK SYNOPSIS
This is from an all time favourite record of mine. Vollenweider’s “Caverna Magica”. Not rare or something but just good.
“SPHINX”
This is a track my friend Christian from Montezuma gave me the other day. Honestly I have no idea what it is.
“WALHALLA”
Found this 7″ through a friend from Sydney; one of the most talented persons I know, Steele Bonus.
“TRACK NUMBER FOUR”
That’s a rare one. Forgot the name.
“RAH BAND”
Such a great track!
“WAWAKI”
Jorge Reyes and Antonio Zepeda teamed up for this amazing jungle vibe. It’s a Mexican record from mid eighties I think, which makes it even more interesting for me since I urgently want to go to Mexico! Tekate! (or imagine this track playing at a Machu Pichu souvenir shop! Could be also cool!)
“SMITH & MUDD – HVALA”
Track “Hvala” out on Claremont. One of the better “new” labels.
“DUNKELZIFFER”
No words needed to describe this amazing band!
“TIM MAIA”
Well, Tim Maia is just one of my favourite Brazilian musicians ever. Also, check and see how cool he looked!
“AJDA PEKKAN”
Found this in Istanbul; love it. Not sure if Brazil and Turkish tracks are a good combination in a row, but I just like the songs so much that I didn’t really think about right mixing. It’s more about listening and enjoying. Hopefully.
“MONKEY SEE MONKEY DO”
The title “Monkey See Monkey Do” is quite worn out I guess, but this track is different! Same title, but so smooth and sexy! Anyways, who cares; just good music.
“DIETER REITH – TRANSMITTER”
This one is from 1978, released on Intercord, a German label. As you might have already realised by his name, Dieter Reith is German, too. But what’s interesting about this information? Nothing. So just listen. It’s a cool song.
“4D – SEX APPEAL”
This one is from a band called “4D”. German and French lyrics can’t sound better together!
“MUTANTES”
One of the most impressive bands I know. Also, check their band photos! Amazing!
“LOLE Y MANUEL – DIMME”
Well this isn’t rare or something, but flamenco and Spanish music is a big passion of mine! and “Dime” (that’s the song’s name) is a good example how great this music is!

Helo! cold you please tell me what is name of the song smth like- i have the woman she treat me no well cause..she was a such mean but i was mad got to she treat me no good????
