YO YO YO YO YO

I don’t generally listen to hip-hop unless it’s cross-over, genre-bender stuff that breaks the gangsta/pimp/superstar mould of mainstream hip-hop/RnB.
Yo Majesty, christian/lesbian/crunk/electro/rap duo (what?!), are mould-breakers of the best kind (the craaaaay-zee kind) and they just dropped their tasty debut LP ‘Futuristically Speaking… Never Be Afraid‘. I could say it sounds likeĀ blah-blah having sex with so-and-so at a whatisname’s party but it probably wouldn’t do it justice.

La Rock and/or Roll!

Yves Larock

As we all now stand here teary-eyed, waving goodbye to the end of summer and what inevitably means is the end of Summer Festival Season i thought i would post a track that reminds me of the good times the season brings! Yves Larock’s Zookey is an oldie but a goody and many of you will remember hearing it on one of the earlier Bang Gang Podcasts. With it’s Jamaican drum-lines and deep/rough male vocals this sexy song makes ya wanna go and drink coconut cocktails and dance the night away on a beach somewhere far far away! As i mentioned before, it has been around for a while now, and has just been re-released with a heap of new tasty remixes for you guys to wrap your teeth around. So make sure you check it out on Juno or other reliable vinyl/cd distributors and support this nostalgic summer anthem!

The first track is Bob Sinclair’s remix of Zookey which i feel gives the track a bit of kick, ooommphhhhh and bounce.

Whilst the second is Baltimore, Baile Funk (and everything left right and in between) up and comer DJ Mat Cant’s superb remix. He has been doing great things all over Victoria from Shepperton, Geelong, Ballarat and to Melbourne and is also supporting AJAX, Kid Kenobi and Generik at the Moonlight Party in Bendigo tomorrow night! He only just finished and sent me this remix which i think not only suits the B-more heads out there, but everyone who likes to shake their big bustlin booties on the dancefloor. LIFT YA LEG UP! LIFT YA LEG UP!

Now for some 80’s nostalgia!

Outfield

Whether we like it or not 80’s music has and still manages to affect/influence the music which we know and love today. A while ago 80’s remixes were huge, and i guess they still are but they were generally cheese filled housed up disgusting bangers like ‘Call On Me’ and/or (I hate to say it) Eddie Murphy’s ‘Party all the Time.’

But I did recently discover this little baltimoresque remix of a song by (hopefully not) long forgotten 80’s group ‘The Outfield’ (pictured above.) They started in the mid 80’s and went all the way to the early 90’s with some hits and misses here and there, with their most famous hit being ‘Your Love’.
This is a remix of that very song and stays fairly true to the original, but beefs it up a little bit in a Baltimore-type way with booming subs, switchy hi hats and cut up vocals and has already been banged out by Deejays all around the world including Flosstradamus.

It’s nothing to lose your mind over, but it gets people singing, dancing and having fun. So Enjoy!
