HEALTH – Die Slow (Tobacco Remix)
Brutal video for a remix of a brutal track. I caught HEALTH last week here in Melbourne and it was amazing, if a little short. This remix comes courtesy of the head of the awesome 70’s-throwback mellowtron drenched band, Black Moth Super Rainbow.

I dont care if its all starting to sound the same, I will always be excited for a new Black Moth Super Rainbow tune. The new album ‘Eating Us’ a very slight change in direction from ‘Dandelion Gum’ but essentially follows all the same rules. If it aint broke…

MP3: Black Moth Super Rainbow – Iron Lemonade

If your familiar with Ducktails (the solo project of Real Estate guitarist Matthew Mondanile), then your guaranteed to fall for Real Estate too. Or if you like music in general, your also guaranteed to fall for Real Estate.

MP3: Real Estate – Suburban Beverage

Now for one of the best live bands in Melbourne, Tic Toc Tokyo (behind My Disco). These guys have been here and there since 2005 and taking there sweet time to release a debut album, so while we wait we have to be content with their solid EP’s. TTT evoke the sounds of 80’s punk dub, taking it all up, trimming the edge til theyre razor sharp and spitting it back out again.

MP3: Tic Toc Tokyo – Ladies In Vogue

Perhaps this could start a new post category here at waves. Whatever tracks have been bounding up your play count that particular week. Either it will give people something new to listen to, or simply remind them just how good that track was.

Also, how much does it suck when your net gets capped. Sit there for like half an hour on one page hitting refresh, walk away all like ’screw this Ill just go outside’, then realize your back at your desk hitting apple+R (or F5, whatever). I feel like Im in that south park episode where the internet just stops working…

Black Moth Super Rainbows latest album, Dandelion Gum, has just recently been pressed and released on vinyl. It was the warmest, mellowtron drenched, colourful, playful, childlike, experimental psychedelic electronica folk record of 2007. The kind of shit H.R. Pufnstuf would love. I instantly fell in love with them, and felt like I was that guy in the clip for that Chemical Brother’s song, Golden Path. Its music that is just dripping colour, or at least you think it is but it could be that tab of acid was stronger than the guy told you and now the spiders are telling you stories. Sigh…..
They have even re-issued their first album late last year, so it should be easy to find. Go outside your comfort zone, or something. I dunno. Those people who consume electro…I just think you need a balanced meal.
