These two close friends started up the raddest, bad-ass French house Crydamoure record label back in 1997. This label screams the classic French filtered sound and it should NEVER be forgotton. It featured everyone from the Buffalo Bunch to DJ Sneak.
Le Knight Club had numerous releases on Crydamoure, around 9 quality 12″s. I’ve put up a nice spread of their work and also remixes they have done in the past. I really can’t express my love them. Bisous!
Another UK band, Tired Irie, seem to be getting alot of NME buzz recently, which doesnt necessarily amount to buzz down here in Australia, nor indicate talent, but I can definitely see these guys taking off. They sound quite foals-esque with a heavier synth but are pretty catchy.
After lots of discussions, it has come to me that the best decision would be to stop thinking about releasing this DVD
All I can say is that I wasn’t told to stop by the Daft or EMI in anyways.
The problem is and will always be about the samples that the Daft Punk are using in the tracks. Copyrights owners of those samples won’t never let me release this DVD in peace.
So I took the decision to only create 4 examples of this DVD : one for me, of course, one for EMI, and two for the Daft themselves.
It will now be their decision to, one day or another, release this DVD
I would like to say, one last time, thank you to all fans whome sent me videos so I can do my work. It is all yours
But as a final gift to you, I’ll take a “rendez-vous”, here, on this site, on june the 14, at 9 PM French Time for a final surprise. After that, I’ll shutdown this website.
Mathieu”
Go hunt this DVD down anyway you can before its torn from torrent sites everywhere. Fly you fools.
We are constantly seeing rising stars emerge from our own soil everyday and CSK OK is set to be our next home grown talent. I’ve been following the quick uprising of this local Sydney producer quite closely, ever since he amazed me with his acoustic rendition of the Bag Raiders hit Fun Punch! It didn’t take long for the rest of the nation, and world, to take notice of this new talent.
Since that Fun Punch remix, CSK OK has worked on bigger and better projects, such as remixes for Like Whoa, Daft Punk, K.I.M and The Galvatrons all while working on his own production. If your in Sydney or Melbourne you must catch one of his live sets, he plays guitar over the top of his remixes and his own tracks, infusing rock with dance beats, amazing stuff.
Check out his ’space for more remixes and a brand new dj mix that’s loaded with mashups and fresh tracks. The future see’s CSK OK releasing remixes for Toecutter and Snob Scrilla and also joining Snob Scrilla on tour in June as part of his band. I predict big things for this young chap!
Another group that’s grabbed my attention recently is The Chain Gang of 1974 out of Denver, Colorado. A mouthful, I know, but this duo sure do know how to write a killer electro-clash tune that’s somewhere between Death From Above and Interpol. Really fun stuff that’ll keep the indie kids and the electro junkies happy at the same time.
And one last entry, something from the disco vaults. Lime were a husband and wife duo out of Montreal, Canada who wrote some amazing tunes back in the day but never found it appropriate to appear in any of their video clips or stage shows, so they would get another couple to act in their place, strange! That aside, this is a lovely little synth number that I adore, so much so that I included it in my recent disco mix [insert shameless promotion].
Yeah. It’s Anzac Day and I’m giving props to Frenchies. Well with the news that We Love Sounds is going have Cassius as part of its line-up, along with Mr. Oizo, !!!, Lindstrom (yeahboyz!), The Whip and a Marina-lessBonde do Role, it looks like OneLove have actually done something right. Now for them not to let fluoro kids in their shindigs. My big up to Gallic kids this week is in relation to this, so Philippe Zdar is the man of the hour.
Apart from being uber-producer extraordinaire to artists like MC Solaar, Chromeo and our very own (as in Melbourne) Cut Copy, Mr. Philippe Cerboneschi has produced some tremendous work of his own. In the mid 90’s, his work with Etienne de Crécy under the name of Motorbass was as slammin’ house as slammin’ house could get, but there was still that touch of funk, most notably on the ‘Around the World’ remix.
After meeting Boom Bass whilst producing Solaar’s album, they formed the group Le Funk Mob, which then went on to be Cassius. There is not a week where I don’t listen to 1999. I simply love it. Their body of work over the years has always had that certain sense of now, along with some hip-hop roots.
These days I’m finding that electronic music is just getting louder and noisier, to the point where you just can’t find its groove. Well it’s seems that a very talented 17 year old from the UK is trying to redeem that lost house groove, that we all grew up with, under his alias Louis La Roché. There was a little confusion when Louis first demo’d his track ‘Love’ on the net, fellow bloggers were convinced that it was a new track from none other than Thomas Bangalter, which, to me, could only be the biggest compliment you could receive towards your own music.
La Roché has just released his debut EP, Peach, online for all to enjoy for free from his myspace, www.myspace.com/louislaroche. It contains five amazing cuts of the purest house music, drawing inspiration from the old Motown sound through to the disco beats of (early) Michael Jackson and Daft Punk.
Louis also goes under the other alias of Night Facilities, where he is producing more of his own music, slightly different from that of his other project but with the same intention of retaining that groove. You can also download a collection of his amazing remixes, again for free, from his ’space’.
Keep an ear out for this up and coming talent, because i’m sure we’ll be seeing a lot more from him in the near future…
