Snobbed!

Hailing from L.A but currently residing in Sydney, Snob Scrilla is quickly being recognised as Australia’s freshest new talents in hip-hop. His single ‘There You Go Again’ has been getting plenty of love on Triple J and FBI and the film clip can be seen heavily on Rage. The Hey Now posse, also hailing from Sydney, have turned the bouncy original into an early morning electro bomb, utilising the catchy vocals and twisting them round a heavy synth bass line until the final breakdown which builds into something truly epic…similar to something D.I.M would produce. Let me know if you can pick the synth sample used towards the beginning of the track!

Another Sydney sider CSK OK (who you should be very familiar with by now) has also provided the remix treatment to another Snob Scrilla track, Mr. Officer. This is another brilliant remix from the young producer, who seems to get better with every new production, this time adding unique synth lines and claps to the clever lyrics from Scrilla.

D.I.M. the lights

I’ve always wanted to get rid of my light dimmer in my room for some little reason. I just noticed that, compared to the other lights in my house, my bedroom light is nowhere near as bright as the other lights, even at full capacity. But when playing new material from German electronic mystro, D.I.M., my little light problem seems to float away.

For you Aussie boys and gals out there, you should be happy. Happy that D.I.M. is coming to our shores once again to set up camp and do what he does best, and ya’ll know what that is right? Heck yes. So, the Future Music Fest will be lucky to have him along with other cool outfits like WhoMadeWho, The Black Ghosts, Datarock, Diplo, etc. Nice stuff.

You can buy Sta’s “In Living Colours” from Beatport or DJDownload. The remix hasn’t grown on me yet which is weird, normally soon as a I hear a new D.I.M. track or remix I fall in love straight away. I just can’t put my finger on this one.

Although, I cannot express enough how much I love the remix D.I.M. did of Belgium’s Shameboy. It is CLASS! The track “Heartcore” is taken from the upcoming album (released in March) of the same name. It’s great stuff guys and girls. Go to their myspace and follow the iTunes links to buy the tracks, simple.

Mouse on Mars

Well christmas is over and I finally have access to the net again. Now for some news. I honestly thought these guys had broken up a while back, since I hadnt heard anything from or about them since early on this millenium (sounds like a long time if you say it like that, huh). Well, anyway, Mouse On Mars are a duo, Andi Toma and an St. Werner, from Germany and they have produced a handfull of albums that range from ambient electronica to bubbly, eclectic disco. I reccomend having a trawl through their back catalouge, especially ‘Iaora Tahiti’. Well, The Presets have proven they have their eyes on electronic musics roots as well as the currrent scene, with Mouse on Mars having a tinker with the new single. You can find the MOM remix on the upcoming ‘My People’ release on Modular sometime in January, along with the D.I.M. and Kris Menace remixes too. So BUY BUY BUY! For now here’s taster (too bad electrorash beat me to it).

MUSIQUe from PUZIQUe

You know when you just cant stop playing a certain song? You go through your itunes/winamp (whatever) looking for something to put on and just cant go past playing that song one more time. In my case it usually kills it and I cant listen to it anymore. But this track I cant get out of my head. ‘Dont Go!’ is a new release from PUZIQUe (a collab between Boys Noize and D.I.M.) under Boysnoize Rec. and has more of a nod towards the classic french filtered house sound of the 90’s. Boys Noize will be here next month, and even though D.I.M. was here recently, I have heard possible news of Puzique playing a gig at around the same time. Lets hope so.
