NEW JUDAS

Right now, my eyes are bleeding with mucus and i barely have the energy to attend my yearly Après-ski. I have the flu/cold/whatever and it really sucks. Now usually when i’m in this state i listen to nothing but an ambiance CD of rain forest noises that i stole from my yoga/meditation teacher Mother. But I am quickly getting sick of this flu and have resorted to more aggressive music in the hope i can just thrash dance it out of my system.

New Judas is not only getting rid of my cold but it’s making me want to start slam dancing with my hot water bottle. New Judas is a Finnish based record label and is fucking amazing. The artwork is done by The Zonders Vänskap which is how I found them and have various artists who i have never heard of before.

I recommend you give this Label a decent browse. Especially make the effort to watch the video clip for Huoratron - $$ Troopers. Not only is the song genius but it also makes you believe the techno Viking might be doing a collaboration with a Ketamine/VHS influenced Michel Gondry but most of all… It’s really, really… really good. Like really.

HI MUM!

So like I haven’t posted anything for a while. I’ve kind of been busy lost in my own mind trying to decide if I should go overseas or if I should throw away my life looking for a full time job. So what have I discovered? Well not much, but in a space of one week I did find out that magic mushrooms grow behind my old high school oval and that my mum knows that i used the word ‘cunt’ and/or ‘cunty’ in my last post

NO AGE
If you have heard of mika mako then you have probably heard of these guys before. But if you live outside LA then maybe not? They are apparently touring Australia towards the end of this year with pets with pets possibly supporting. Like i dunno. You really have to listen to ‘everybody’s down’ on their myspace its fucking amazing but they also have a tribute song to bjork which is a pretty sound cover.
Coming to Melbourne soon. Not Bjork but like No Age and stuff

MP3: NO AGE - OH SO QUIET

THE STABS
I’ve had a stalker before and its really kind of creepy and scares the shit out of you at the time. But when you get a band named ‘the stabs’ with a song ‘never going home’ with lyrics… “you got my number and then you never called, so i got some duct tape and kicked in your front door” it makes obsessive violence cool again.
So instead of buying another pair of cheap mondays just stalk your ex and listen to the stabs.

DOWNTOWN
I think their own myspace explanation is pretty rad ” fucking good chicks/good roots too / bill bails too but he is a chick deep down “.

MP3: DOWNTOWN - THE HIT

STAY HIGH
I have this friend named gentle. He dresses like an esoteric prince but has this amazing ability to discover bands from the future, another planet or connections to an accention cult. This is one of them. Stay High.

MP3: STAY HIGH - KRISPY MASH (STAY HIGH MIX)

GRAFFITI ISLAND
Everybody likes real men and lo-fi surf music. Graffiti Island from London. Wow. Amaazing!

MP3: GRAFFITI ISLAND - MOUNTAIN MAN

WHICH HATS

The witch hats have a similar rad sound to the stabs. Hailing from Melbourne and touring at the moment promoting their new 7 inch “CELLULITE SOUL“. You can check out the gig dates on their myspace.

MP3: WITCH HATS - NEIL DIAMOND

TELEPATHE
Now alot of you are gonna be like, “quit reading vice band reviews and trying to palm them off as your own find”. Well whatever. It was just coincidence that, gentle and my girlfriend introduced me to them at the same time vice decided to write some shit review.
However they will be touring Australia and will be in Melbourne on the 26th of June at the Toff,
Supported by pets with pets.
