One of the best eclectic mixes I have heard in ages. As good as/better than most Optimo or Glimmers mixes. Huge props to Tosh Ohta (and to one of the best blogs around for the link, The Beat!).

It always saddens & frustrates me when a promising new band that you actually LOVE, great sound, new / different / exciting EP etc, drop their debut record it’s less than amazing.
Tigercity’s awesome Pretend Not To Love EP was brimming with touches of funky Prince, Holy Ghost style disco and Junior Boys electro pop. While [...]
I’ve been on an intense binge diet of The Artist when he was formally known as Prince. Everyone knows his hits, Kiss, Raspberry Beret, Purple Rain etc. but his early back catalogue reveals gold that far eclipses his later number ones. These tracks have literally been on constant rotation keeping me sane and dancing for [...]
I don’t generally listen to hip-hop unless it’s cross-over, genre-bender stuff that breaks the gangsta/pimp/superstar mould of mainstream hip-hop/RnB.
Yo Majesty, christian/lesbian/crunk/electro/rap duo (what?!), are mould-breakers of the best kind (the craaaaay-zee kind) and they just dropped their tasty debut LP ‘Futuristically Speaking… Never Be Afraid‘. I could say it sounds like blah-blah having sex with so-and-so [...]
Ive got a whole bunch of great stuff this week to share.
First off is Morgan Geist, one half of quite average Brooklyn duo Metro Area. Not the best intro, but his debut solo album Double Night Time is actually really really good. Its full of fantastic little minimal techno-pop gems that will appeal to any [...]
Hi wavers, i forgot to introduce myself last post and now it looks like JD beat me to the punch anyway. I’m Gold Lion and I’ll try my best to bring some waves that crash a little different on these here shores.
Starting now!
Been digging some noisy lo-fi electronic post-punk/art rock for the last few days [...]
Miami Horror’s ‘Don’t Be On With Her’, described by my brother as ‘that Madonna song with no vocals’, has been reworked with vocals! (but still with no Madonna) for the long awaited Bravado EP, out November 15th.
Glad to know he’s not dead after all.

Turbo’s next installment has just flown in and landed quite recently. I am indeed talking about Proxy’s next huge thing “Raven”. The original has already been flying around the interwebs for sometime now (which I suggest you get ahold of as the breakdown is quite epic). That being said, the original is the gem of [...]
Very talented Sydney Duo ‘Like Woah’ return to the scene with a brand new release on the Bang Gang 12 Inches label entitled ‘Raw/War’. The EP is available August 20th and promises more club mayhem with tracks ‘Discombobulator’ & ‘Girls Sing’. The first single from the EP is ‘O.S.O.F’ and showcases both the progression and [...]
I dont know about you guys out there, but the first time I listened to MGMT’s Oracular Spectacular, I fell head over heels for it. It had a sound so fresh that everyone seemed to connect with it. I have a feeling we wont be getting any new material any time too soon, but the [...]
Peter Kirk makes up The Outlaws (occasionally other people join in on the act too), one of the star signings on Modular’s DJ team, alongside The Bang Gang Deejays and Van She Tech. Born in Bristol (in the UK) but living in beautiful Australia; this guy knows how to put out a bangin’ display of [...]
Valentine distribution begins, accompanied by a few paper airplanes.
Everyone’s box is brimming with cards, except for Ralph’s, which
is empty. Noting Ralph’s sad state, Lisa quickly re-addresses one
of her valentines and gives it to Ralph. The card reads, “I
Choo-Choo-Choose You, Happy Valentines”. Lisa cheerfully wishes
Ralph a “Happy Valentine’s” as she returns to her [...]

MP3: Nick Coleman & T-Rek – Van Bam (Acid Jacks 303 Jackmaster Remix)
Romanthony (best known for his work with Daft Punk; his voice on featured on tracks “One More Time” and “Too Long”, on the Discovery record), has teamed up with Laidback Luke and Top Stephan, churning out a fine housey track indeed. It’s nothing like the classic Roule hit Romanthony had in 1999 with “Hold On“, [...]
Calling in Sick boys have done it again. Mass props to the lads as the original + remixes weren’t doing it for me, but this shit’s huge. TIGHTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT! If this doesn’t get you moist then get back to listening shit like this. Get it while its hot and steamy.
Oh and some news from their camp: [...]
