New Late of the Pier AA-sided single featuring ‘Space and the Woods’ and ‘Focker’ to follow from the success of ‘The Bears are Coming’. ‘Space and the Woods’ is co-produced by Erol and LOTP and is somewhat greatly polished to when we heard it long long ago (the 7″ was out May last year!!). Nevertheless, it’s still kick-ass.
But what makes me just ooze and froth at the mouth is their epic track “Focker”. I tried to find a thesaurus to come up with some other words to describe this track but failed in the search. Ahem, .. so the best I came up with is: specatularadazzlingreatremendoussss. Recorded in the same session with Erol, you know it’s good.
The Acid Girls hail from California and specialise in dropping beats at numerous raves in L.A and also dropping beats on their own blog! They have just completed a stunning new remix of Dizzee Rascal’s tune ‘Sirens’, transforming it into a catchy dark electro track including a haunting sample of a distress siren during the climax!
Here’s a tune to look out for in the coming months, it’s a brand new Mystery Jets track (produced by legendary dj/remix artist Erol Alkan). It’s remixed by Switch and he’s used a dark eerie beat thats perfect for those 3am club sets! Thanks to Asian Dan for finding this quality rip of the track.
Beyond the Wizards Sleeve is the tripped out love child of producers Erol Alkan and Richard Norris. If you love your 70’s psychedelic rock as much as I do, you’ll dig what these guys pull together, they enhance all the classic sounds from the era including horns, percussion, and wind instruments and chop it up in one giant bong all for us to inhale. They have released a bunch of remixes for artist such as the Chemical Brothers, Tracey Thorn, Midlake and just recently Goldfrapp and Late of the Pier. Amongst the remixes the pair have also released 4 mini-albums entitled Birth, Spring, George and West, each one providing a journey into strange soundscapes and colorful samples, perfect for those seedy sunday afternoons!
