And no justice for all

Remember hearing a while back that Justice were on to do a mix for the famous club, Fabric. After hearing a few great ones recently including the Cut Copy and Spank Rock mixes, I was pretty excited. But it turns out Fabric turned them down after seeing the tracklisting. According to Xavier de Rosnay

“We didn’t want to do just another boring mix, so we put together a selection of tunes we absolutely love, mainly weird disco tracks and French novelty acts. But Fabric turned it down. They weren’t ready for something like this. Maybe we’ll put the mix out ourselves. People should really hear it, they’d be surprised.”

Fucking Fabric. I would have loved this.

MP3: Justice - Xmas Mix

Shame shame shame on you Fabric!

Sailing silver waves

Wow. Gosh. Where do I start… Supposedly there was meant to be an “It’s Not Over Yet” remix done by Justice for the Brittish “Atlantis to Interzone” rockers Klaxons but this one has come from left-field. Actually, the ‘As Above So Below’ single will be digitally released in France on October 22nd with this Justice remix + a French version of the original song. Good stuff! The laid-back remix contains a dash of ZZT’s “Lower States” and also a spoonful of Soulwax’s remix of “Phantom, Pt. 2″. It’s a good listen. It’s Justice. Enough said.

I was probably about 4 or 5 years old

Every style of music has its predecessors. Whether they directly link to today’s music or just paved the way, there’s always a connection. 808 state circa 1989-92 produced some great tracks that had a big impact on the British electronic music scene and pioneered the acid house movement of the time. This track comes off their 1990 album ‘Utd. State 90’, and various remixes have been played by Justice in their recent sets (see the PinkPonyParty DJ set). The second track is another heavily Justice and SebastiAn played track, by a Belgium group called Outlander released 1992. If you went to their sideshows you may have heard it before. Have a listen.
