Some new brooding minimalist disco from one of the bands that do it best, Melbourne’s The Emergency. With still a consistent dark retro sound that has only kept improving in the last few years, their new soon to be released LP will most definitely be one to keep your eyes and ears out for.

BANG BANG ECHE are an energetic young band that brings back good memories of the Damn Arms first EP, a tight, thrashy and loud aural experience. If you live in Auckland (or anywhere in NZ where the guys currently reside) make sure to check them out at their last local show for a while before they tour around the US and Germany. 17th October at the sohomo birthday extravaganza.

Polygon Palace

Polygon Palace, another Melbourne band that are going to be making an impact this year. Guitar in this track reminds me a tad of The Rapture. What do you reckon? Also, for those who are in Melbourne the next week or so, the boys are playing a few gigs at the Empress on the 21st (this Saturday) and the Arthouse on the 24th with Left Feels Right.

TST

TST. No, I dont know what it stands for. Doesnt really matter. These guys make some dark, energetic, indie post-punk. There has been so much good music coming out Melbourne lately that I feel I barely have to look anywhere else but down the road to find it. If you dig these guys, just wait a few weeks or so til there are some shows announced, then I recommend making your way down to catch them live.
