Space Oddities

Im quite liking the noise that German label Permanent Vacation has been producing lately. Definitely has a very classic feel to it. Their latest release is a straight up classic disco compilation by two French DJ’s Alexis Le-Tan and Jess called Space Oddities. A compilation of rare European library grooves from 1975-1984.
Its good listening but personally I think it has dated quite a bit. But you can hear alot of sounds that have influenced some bands today like Glass Candy and Mirage.

Mirage

I know these tracks have been around for a while but I just really wanted to express my absolute adoration of Italian group, Mirage. My first experience was last year when I downloaded the After Dark Compilation on a recommendation from a friend, and it is one of the best compilations I have heard in a long time. There was a point where I would get home after work at like 11:30 at night on Sunday, and just sit on my computer and listen through it. Simply beautiful retro/futuristic synthpop. Exposed me to the equally-as-good-but-in-a-different-way Glass Candy and Chromatics as well, but the standout for me were these two Mirage tracks below. The compilation, and all the bands mentioned here are signed to Italians Do It Better Records, and will no doubt be releasing some amazing stuff throughout 2008.
