EDIT: The mp3 has since been removed at the request of Domino. Blink and you missed it.
The sporadic but always excellent Grizzly Bear blog have posted a proper mp3 of Animal Collective’s Brothersport! There have been several live versions floating around as well as a cover by Blind Man’s Colour, which is odd for a track that hasn’t even been released yet. If you aren’t already excited about Merriweather Post Pavilion then this should do the trick.

Have been really digging this B-side from The Legends ‘Seconds Away’ single. Fuzzy, dream-pop with My Bloody Valentine-esque layers of hiss and noise.

Unlike Gold Lion below, I just dont really like summer. Id rather keep the AC on, block out all the windows, and immerse myself in noise until I can feel the bite of winter coming on. Id rather take being rugged up in a comfy coat than reeking of sweat if I so much as walk down the block.
UK’s Hatcham Social are perfect for this in-between mood. Part of this new wave of indie/shoegaze artists to be emerging of late, the band craft some great tunes complete with jangle pop structures that always hooks me in.

Marc Regueiro-Mckelvie, AKA Popolice, is probably the most underrated Melbourne act around, producing some of the most mesmerizing pop/shoegaze. I honestly cannot sing this guys praise enough. Creative genius. Every time I see him play is a treat, even if my eardrums do suffer a little afterwards from the wall of noise. These recordings don’t really do him justice, and you should do yourself a favour and pop on down to his next gig, wherever it may be. Some of you may have heard a track of his on the Cut Copy So Cosmic mix last year too.

I am incredibly jealous of Zach Condon. Not only did he start producing his own music at 15 (as Real People), he began the San Fe band Beirut and produced two albums and was touring the world by the time he was 21. They were fantastic at Golden Plains this year too. This track is a beautiful little downtempo electronic track, complete with Condon’s soaring vocals, from his solo work.

Canyons will be big. Theyre already billed to play Nevereverland, Laneway Festival, supporting Lost Valentinos and Tame Impala. They even have the Jonathan Zawada (pretty much everything modular) artwork stamp of approval. Apples & Pears is a pleasing funky, disco track that reminds me a little of some of The Avalanches more upbeat numbers.

An oldie but a goodie. Back when New Order still sounded gloomy.

Recently Ive been getting so much new music from around the place, that Ive barely had a chance to give it all a decent listen. So its always refreshing when a band can capture you in that small amount of time. New World Disorder by UK band Aspen Woods is one of those albums you know is going to be on high rotation as soon as you listen to it. If your a fan of any sort of dreamy, indie shoegaze, something in the vain of Ride, Slowdive or even early BRMC you will enjoy this. The tracks usually sit at around 8 minutes each, but never drone on and are consistently impressive.

Good news from the cosmos. For those of you who love and shoegaze electronica of M83, and never thought they would play back on Australian shores, your in luck. The now one man group of Anthony Gonzalez (after Nicolas Fromageau’s departure a few years back) will be supporting the Midnight Juggernauts on their upcoming tour in March along with Bagraiders, Lost Valentino’s DJ’s and Damn Arms DJ’s. Personally I find it odd that M83 are the support though. I mean they have been around for years, produced 4 albums, about to release a new one in April this year and have been quite an influential electronica act in many scenes. Should be having their own show. If you like My Bloody Valentine, theres a good chance you will love M83’s back catalogue. Buy tickets now for the show and listen to my favourite track, and a nice Depeche Mode remix below.
