Rejuvenate the Fonk.

Im still spinning the last Subway album (‘Subway II’), even this long after it came out, and Im totally hooked on the krautrock fed disco. Their new EP, ‘DBO’ was recently released on London label Deadly People, and is three tracks of pleasurable arpeggiations.

Now for something slightly darker. Blancmange grew from the 80’s UK New Wave scene alongside bands such as Depeche Mode, Soft Cell etc. I still really dig their second album ‘Mange Tout’; an amazing goth and darkwave crossover. If you enjoy this, hunt down the Serie Noir 2 Compilation by The Glimmers (as Glimmer Twins).

I’ve been on an intense binge diet of The Artist when he was formally known as Prince. Everyone knows his hits, Kiss, Raspberry Beret, Purple Rain etc. but his early back catalogue reveals gold that far eclipses his later number ones. These tracks have literally been on constant rotation keeping me sane and dancing for past weeks.

Controversy and Dirty Mind are both funky electro pop simplicity at it’s BEST.

From his peak period, Sign O’ The Times is a dark brooding, stripped back social commentary while Alphabet Street bounces along like a Sesame Street anthem on Amyl Nitrate.
